AK Health and social services is a community based nonprofit organizations That works with immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers and BIPOC communities in Lewiston and Auburn Maine. The non profit was founded by Abdikhadar Shire, a former refugee, and an immigrant, to respond to the challenges and barriers immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers and BIPOC communities face in Maine.
our approach is to identify needs in the community based on needs assessments conducted by AK Health and Social services from the community and develop programs to meet the needs of our target population.
To provide social and economic support to members of our communities and facilitate social integration by providing a link between communities and authorities to build relations leading to a strong community cohesions.
To mobilize inspire and engage communities, to improve the quality of their lives by creating strategic partnerships in community policing, conflict resolution and sustainable management of resources.
